What is Zombie Rising?
Zombie Rising is a treasure hunt-style team-building activity, designed as a zombie-themed adventure featuring clues, puzzles and time-limited missions.
The story begins after several zombies escape from a research centre, and the teams must track them down and activate the mechanisms that can stop them.
Each team sets off on its own route, but discovers along the way that it does not have all the necessary information.
What initially appears to be a competition turns into a joint mission, in which the exchange of clues and coordination between the teams determine the final outcome.
How does it work?
The activity begins with a short briefing, during which participants are introduced to the story, learn the rules and are given the mission to stop the zombie threat.
Participants are divided into teams and set off on different routes. Along the way, they decipher clues, solve puzzles and tackle challenges that require concentration, logic, communication and quick decision-making.
Each team discovers only part of the information they need. To progress, participants must compare their clues, share what they have learnt and coordinate with the other teams.
As the mission progresses, the initial competition loses its meaning, and the group realises that success cannot be achieved individually. The information shared transforms the game into a collaborative challenge for the whole group.
At the end, the teams gather the information, activate the safety measures, and try to escape the Zombie Zone before time runs out.
The experience concludes with the results of the game and a moment of reflection on communication, trust and collective success.

When is Zombie Rising the right choice?
Zombie Rising is ideal for companies looking for a core team-building activity with a storyline, energy and a clear focus on collaboration.
The theme is easy to understand, and the mechanics quickly draw participants in without turning the experience into a sporting competition.
It works very well for mixed or cross-departmental teams, especially when the aim is to encourage interaction between colleagues who do not work together on a daily basis and to bring them together around a shared mission.
It blends in naturally with:
- team-building events with a focus on adventure and collaboration
- off-site events or retreats with a main daytime activity
- kick-off events with a message about collaboration, adaptability and a shared goal
- engagement programmes for mixed or cross-departmental teams
- team-building days, followed by socialising, dinner or a party
- Halloween-themed events featuring interactive activities, not just decor and entertainment
Why does it deliver results?
Zombie Rising works because it uses a simple, accessible story to quickly build energy, suspense and engagement. Participants know what they have to do, but they are not given all the information they need right from the start.
The exercise brings out real team behaviours: who notices the details, who communicates, who retains information, who asks for help, and how quickly the groups manage to move from competition to collaboration.
What sets it apart is precisely this shift in focus. The teams start out separately, but success only comes when they pool their clues and work towards the same goal.
