What is Lip-Dub?

Lip-Dub is a creative team-building activity in which participants work together to create a music video, using lip-syncing, choreography, props and group energy.

The teams work on the project from concept to filming: they write their own script, cast the roles, rehearse the scenes and bring a chosen play to life in an expressive, memorable and light-hearted way.

The activity combines entertainment with real-life teamwork skills: communication, coordination, time management, practical leadership and cross-departmental collaboration.

The end result is more than just a fun video. It becomes a shared memory, an internal recap and a visible demonstration of the energy a team can generate when working in sync.

How does it work?

The experience begins with an energetic briefing, music, props and an atmosphere that quickly takes participants out of their daily routine. Teams are set the challenge of creating a music video for a chosen track, which can be linked to the event’s theme, the company’s values or the group’s energy.

The participants divide up the roles and work on the script, choreography, lip-sync sequences, props, transitions and the organisation of the shoot.

People don’t need to know how to dance or sing; what matters is that everyone contributes in a way that suits them, whether in front of the camera, or through coordination, ideas, organisation or support.

The highlight is the video filmed at the end of the activity, usually conceived as a grand, synchronised moment in which all the contributions come together in a single video.

Finally, the film can be watched together, in a moment of celebration, laughter and shared energy.

When is Lip-Dub the right choice?

Lip-Dub is ideal for companies looking for a high-energy team-building activity that offers visibility and a memorable end result. It’s an excellent choice when the aim is to engage participants in a shared, creative project that’s easy to revisit after the event.

It works well for large groups, cross-departmental teams and situations where the company wants to foster a sense of belonging, celebration and a shared experience, with plenty of humour and enthusiasm.

It blends in naturally with:

  • high-energy, creative team-building activities
  • offsite events or retreats focused primarily on group activities
  • kick-offs in which the song, message or script can support the theme of the year
  • engagement programmes for mixed or cross-departmental teams
  • corporate events featuring a celebratory moment and a closing screening
  • corporate parties or in-house events where a video can be the highlight of the day

Why does it deliver results?

Lip-Dub works because it transforms the team’s energy into a visible, entertaining and memorable result. Participants don’t just have fun to the music; they also have to work together as if on a small-scale video production: planning, rehearsing, synchronising their movements and delivering a coherent final performance as a team.

The format is effective because it includes roles for different personalities. Some people can be in front of the camera, whilst others can coordinate, come up with ideas, organise transitions, work with props or support the team behind the scenes.

Thus, the activity remains inclusive, even though it has a performative element.

What’s more, the end goal is clear: a team video. This end result inspires pride, laughter, excitement and the feeling that every contribution has made a difference.

And when the video is watched again later, the experience continues to serve as a reminder of the energy and connection created during the event.
