Virtual reality (VR) is increasingly being adopted in organizations. As a benchmark of this, Oculus Rift, one of the world's largest developers, was acquired by Facebook last year for 2.3 billion dollars, and companies such as Sony and Microsoft are investing large sums in the technology.

Sixty years ago, virtual reality was used by the military in the form of a flight simulator. In the 1990s, VR was introduced into the world of video games, although without much success. In recent years, VR has gained momentum, with a consumer launch expected in early 2016.

We firmly believe that virtual reality will make an impact in most industries. For example, a real estate agent who spends a good part of a week in the field, visualizing with potential clients; as a client you would rather spend your evenings with an Oculus and “viewing” apartments than driving from location to location.

Working in the field of teambuilding and training, we have often thought about the impact that virtual reality could have and have come to the following conclusions:

SIMULARI
In fact, probably the most obvious aspect. It is often mentioned that the best way to learn is through an experience, and what better way than virtual reality? Imagine an oil company that wants to have a training that simulates a force majeure situation. The simulation can be created around an engaging but safe experience.

BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER
Studies have shown that the best way to unite a team is to provide the framework for face-to-face interactions. This is often not practical or cost-effective especially if the team is spread all over the world. Virtual reality does not offer the traditional face-to-face interaction, but it places people in a virtual world where they can interact with each other, perhaps even in a teambuilding activity. Imagination is also the only limit in virtual teambuilding.

TRAINING ROOM LIMITS
It won't happen in the next 5-10 years, but we will certainly be surprised if the traditional system where 20 people come to a specific place to take part in a training will change. Similar to the previous point, it's not always practical to travel to a specific location for a few hours of training, when you can simply use a pair of glasses and join other people in a training session.

For this to happen, a lot of things have to change, but if you consider how many things have happened in the last few years, along with the exponential growth of the global industrial sector, do you think things will not change in this industry?

The Internet & Mobile World 2015, we have been able to enjoy the Oculus Rift experience and we are extraordinarily excited to include it in our teambuilding experiences in a few years! :)
